Ashley the last episode has a horrible mom. I think it’s jealousy more than anything else. Her mom is jealous of the connection she has with her dad or her mom is just a miserable person. I feel awful for Ashley. Her mom even said well I didn’t make her eat it. Yes but that poor girl has been heavy since she was a little girl!

And look at yourself in the mirror! You taught her these horrible eating habits and then you have the nerve to emotionally abuse her?! If I were Ashley I would not talk to that woman, mother or not. The first story Melissa. She was such a strong woman! She got the surgery and was on the go from day 1.

She should of left that man, he doesn't deserve Melissa. He was a pig! The second story Donald was inspiring. Food addiction is hard! Depression can make you hit rock bottom, been there! The third story Henry was a sweet story. Watching him walk after he lost all that weight makes you think, they have to find away to move and hold all that fat.

It's learned. He still walked like he was heavy. The doctor wasn't joking when he says your a ticking time bomb for death if you don't lose this weight. The last story, Ashley. I had a step mom just like hers.

Would pick and laugh at me in front of people. Make me feel small, not even human. I wanted to tell her mom, "You are a disgusting mother, your scarring your child with your words. It is part your fault how Ashley is, look in the mirror". She found her daughter disgusting. When Ashley's mom was saying before her daughter's second skin removal, " It will be weird for her daughter not to have hanging stomach anymore, just hanging low and disg I hope she watched the show and saw she made a butt out of herself on tv.

I now never talk to my stepmom It's been 3 yrs then had to see her for a wedding now another 3 years. I'm happier without that negativity in my life. Least Ashley is willing too work through it with her mom.

Thank you Ashley's Aunt! Watching this show inspires me to eat and he better. Gained 75 pounds and lost 24 pounds so far! We can do this! If you are thinking about having Gastric Bypass or you have already had it The patients in this show are very obese -- having weight loss surgery is dangerous for people that weigh this much. There are very few doctors that will attempt it due to the mortality rate. Season 1 are pretty much all success stories. It starts with Melissa's Story you can watch part one of her story on NetFlix to get a feel for what this is about and her ups and downs with the post-op.

WLS is only a tool -- like a hammer to put together boards into a cabinet -- to lose weight. WLS patients have a lot to learn before surgery.

This is not a magic fix by any stretch of the imagination. It is NOT an easy way out either, for those people who think it is. This is a complete change of life. There are requirements from the insurance company and a long process of physical and psychological testing.

No one gets to be over lbs without having a psychological issue! This is truth. Since the process is so long, those who are not fully committed to doing WLS are usually weeded out. For example, a doctor will expect you to lose at least lbs pre-operatively before he will do the surgery. If you do not lose, you do not have surgery. You would think this doesn't make sense, but it does: it shows that you are very motivated to have the surgery. Another example is that a doctor will require you to quit smoking at least wks prior to surgery.

A blood test will be done on the day of surgery and if nicotine by products show up in your blood, the surgery will be cancelled. So no patches, no gum, no e-cigs, no nothing. Again: this shows that you can change a habit. All that said: this show does not really touch upon some of those pre-requirements and it does not get into the strict dietary requirements post-op, either.

The amount of protein, vitamins and proper nutrition is overwhelming. The possibility for hair loss is almost a certainty. After you lose the weight, you may have an enormous amount of skin left over that is quite ugly to look at. Hopefully you thought ahead to see if your insurance will cover the removal of some of that skin.

There can be lbs of excess skin on the belly, depending on how overweight you were in the beginning! It is a hard transition. Despite all the preparations and intentions, WLS is a hard road. It is also not reversible well, except for a couple lap-bands so you are stuck with a ouce tummy.

Cravings don't change Watch the show if you are considering the surgery. Also, get into an on-line facebook group to get as much information as you can.

I find this series very inspiring. Some may see it as exploitative, but it inspires me to move and eat healthy, and I root for them all the way. I have to say I found the episode with Ashley a bit disturbing.
